This Privacy Policy explains how UnlockAI ("UnlockAI", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). UnlockAI is operated from Canada. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
The short version: we keep almost everything on your device. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, we don't use analytics or tracking SDKs. The only things that leave your phone are (a) your subscription transaction, handled by Apple and RevenueCat, and (b) prompts you choose to submit to the Prompt Lab feature, which are sent to OpenAI for evaluation.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Name or nickname. During onboarding you can enter a name. This is stored only on your device using Apple's SwiftData and is never transmitted to our servers (we don't operate any).
- Onboarding selections. Your role, age range, learning goals, time commitment, and similar preferences are stored locally on your device and used to personalize your learning plan.
- Prompt Lab submissions. If you use the Prompt Lab feature, the text of your prompt is sent to OpenAI for evaluation and feedback. OpenAI's handling of this content is governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- Support emails. If you email us at sahaj0091@gmail.com, we receive your email address and the contents of your message via Gmail.
Information collected automatically
- Subscription and purchase data. When you subscribe, Apple processes the payment and shares anonymized purchase identifiers with our subscription provider, RevenueCat, so we can verify your subscription status. We never receive your credit card details, full name, or billing address.
- Local progress data. Your lesson completions, streak count, quiz scores, ELO rating, and review schedule are stored only on your device.
- Local notification preferences. If you grant notification permission, we schedule local notifications on your device for streak reminders and learning prompts. We do not operate push servers and do not collect device tokens.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your email address (unless you email us directly).
- We do not collect your phone number, contacts, calendar, photos, location, microphone, or camera.
- We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.), or tracking SDKs.
- We do not request the IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) and do not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
2. How we use information
- To personalize your learning experience and adapt content to your skill level.
- To track your progress, streak, and review schedule on your device.
- To verify your subscription status with Apple via RevenueCat.
- To evaluate Prompt Lab submissions you choose to send.
- To respond to your support requests.
3. Third-party services
UnlockAI uses two third-party services that may receive limited data:
- Apple App Store. Handles all payment processing and subscription billing. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat. Receives anonymized App Store transaction data to verify and restore your subscription. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI. Receives the text of any prompt you submit through the Prompt Lab feature, for the sole purpose of returning an evaluation. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy. Do not include sensitive personal information in Prompt Lab submissions.
4. Data retention
Data stored on your device remains there until you delete the App or reset your progress from the in-app settings. Subscription records held by Apple and RevenueCat are retained according to their respective policies. Prompt Lab submissions are processed by OpenAI according to their data retention practices.
5. Your rights
Because almost all of your data is stored only on your device, you have full control over it:
- Access and portability. Your progress, name, and preferences are visible in the App at any time.
- Deletion. Deleting the App from your device permanently erases your local data. You can also reset specific data from the in-app settings.
- Subscription cancellation. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings on your device.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy laws (including PIPEDA in Canada, GDPR in the EU/UK, and CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have additional rights, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold. 6. Children
UnlockAI is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard security practices for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS for all network requests). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your device and Apple ID secure.
8. International users
UnlockAI is operated from Canada. If you use the App from outside Canada, you understand that any data transmitted (such as Prompt Lab submissions and subscription verification) may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, in accordance with the third-party services listed above.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by updating this page.
